"What is really strange is that no one knows anything about it. On the estate everyone knows everything about what is going on", said the resident.
Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry said at a press conference in Anmer: "We are at the very early stages of the investigation and it could be a complex inquiry. The body had been there for some time. The remains were discovered close to the village of Anmer by someone walking a dog. The circumstances suggest this is a murder case and we are looking at missing persons reports and cold cases both locally and nationwide."
The Sun reports that the police officer said further: "Entomology and pathology work is under way and we expect the body to be recovered and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn later today."
According to Associated Press (AP), this is not the first time a dead body is discovered on a royal estate. In November 2010, the body of Joana Brown, 46, was found on the Crown Estate in Windsor. She appeared to have been killed by hammer blows to the head. In March last year, the body of an American Robert Moore, 69, was found 100 yards from Buckingham Palace.
