Most of Skeeter's rich white girlfriends have turned to marriage and motherhood in her absence, and their babies are being raised by black maids employed by "respectable" white families. The maids are good enough to raise their children but not good enough to use the family bathrooms. The "help" must use an outdoor bathroom.
The movie relies on sterotyped characters — the wise underclass, the country bumpkin, the pure racist and the social climber. Mississippi in the 60's was the epicenter of American racism where such one-dimensional characters posted and tolerated the "Whites Only" signs.
The Help is an absolutely epic story told from white and black perspectives. It is rich in emotion, rich in history, rich in humor and rich in compassion and courage....and rich in prejudice, pain and a terrible truth that must never be forgotten.
It is incredible to contemplate how much has changed (and how much hasn't) over the years, not only in race relations but in attitudes toward women. That's part of the fascination of this inspirational movie whch is the first real candidate for an Academy Best Picture Award.
"The Help" is a breath of fresh air in Hollywood where movie-making is dominated by the Zionist agenda- makers.
