Here is a statement by U.S. Sergeant Major Eric Haney during a CNN interview when asked about the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden. "I believe he's dead. I'm 98% positive that we killed him in December of 2001 during the Tora Bora War campaign. I've seen no proof of life since then regardless of these tapes that are cobbled together."
Former Marine Colonel Bob Pappas has been saying for years that Bin Laden died at Tora Bora and that Senator Kerry's claim that Bin Laden escaped was a lie.
Here is another report in the NY Times by AMIR TAHERI published on July 11, 2002. "Osama bin Laden is dead. The news first came from sources in Afghanistan and Pakistan almost six months ago: the fugitive died in December and was buried in the mountains of southeast Afghanistan. Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf, echoed the information. The remnants of Osama's gang, however, have mostly stayed silent, either to keep Osama's ghost alive or because they have no means of communication."
In December, 2001, FOX News reported, "Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader. The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said.
Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.
A French expert claims Osama bin Laden died after being maimed in an American air raid on the Tora Bora mountains of Afghanistan in December, 2001, a Pakistani newspaper says. Bin Laden died in US air raid: French expert.
A poll on the aftermath of Osama bin Laden’s death, by Gallup in Pakistan, was conducted between May 7th and 10th in towns and rural areas, among a decent-sized sample of 2,530 people of various linguistic, educational and class backgrounds. The interviews were done in person, not over the phone, which means it reached a wide range of people. Nearly half of Pakistani's (49%) thought that the whole incident was staged.
