John Cornwall is a senior research fellow at Jesus College, Cambridge, and author of the bestselling A Thief in the Night: The Death of Pope John Paul. Cornwall condemns Pope Pius XII for entering into a concordat with Hitler and for remaining silent during the Jewish holocaust. By signing a concordat with Hitler, the Pope legitimized Hitler's Third Reich. His treatment of the Catholic Center Party in Germany threw the moral integrity of the church into question. For Cornwall, all of the Pope's failures come down to a seriously flawed spirituality.
Even though Pope Pius XII remains under a moral cloud, his canonization, beatification and his elevation to the "venerable" status of "saint" is blessed by today's former nazi Pope Benedict XVI (Ratzinger).
The new status of "Saint Pius XII" would make it extremely difficult, particularly for Catholic scholars, to continue their investigation of his record. For Cornwall, Pius remains the pope who ignored the requests of some German bishops to speak out publicly and strongly against the Nazi attack on the Jews.
OTHER HONORED WAR CRIMINALS
There are hundreds of examples of religious and political war criminals being honored with peace prizes, statues, sainthood and royal knightings by Queen Elizabeth. The shadow government of royalty and bankster families honor their war criminals who serve their New World Order agenda.
Dr. (Evil) Henry Kissinger - a documented genocidal war criminal received a Nobel Peace prize in 1973
Barack Obama lied to the American people by continuing the U.S. occupation of Iraq, by sending 30,000 more troops into Afghanstan and escalating the war. He was honoured with the 2009 Nobel Peace prize.
