Cops: Friends or Foes?

On March 3, 1991, the brutal beating of Rodney King (a black man) by four white cops was caught on tape by a witness with a video camera. The cops were brought to trial and acquitted when it was demonstrated in court and by the media - that they acted appropriately.

There are millions of laws designed to control and restrict your freedom. Laws that tax-you-to-death and ticket-you-to- death to bicycle helmet laws, fishing licence laws and even jaywalking laws.

On June 15, 2010, a white Seattle cop tried to arrest a black woman for jaywalking and roughed her up in the process. When her friend intervened to protect her, the cop punched the woman in the face with "UFC full fisted force" and almost knocked her out.

CNN conducted a (phoney) survey asking viewers if they approved or disapproved of this police brutality. The CNN result? Of course an overwhelming "selected" majority said - the cop behaved appropriately.

A frail 84 year old woman walking with a cane and carrying a knife was knocked to the ground by a cop in a Walmart parking lot. The old woman's head was gashed open and bleeding all over the pavement as bystanders watched in horror.

ABC news reported that the cop acted appropriately.

A police state needs your approval. The job of the media is to convince you that brutalizing citizens can be justified.
